Merrisk Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 26, 2025
Merrisk ("we," "our," "us") provides verification and scoring tools that help businesses establish trust through financial-based analytics, dynamic badges, and performance indicators. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share information when you use merrisk.com, the Merrisk WordPress plugin, our verification tools, API integrations, and all related services ("Services"). By using our Services, you agree to the practices described below.
Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly when you create an account, fill out your business profile, or contact support. This may include your name, email address, company name, and any documents or files you upload to verify your credentials.
When you connect platforms like Stripe, PayPal, Shopify, or WooCommerce, you authorize us to access read-only financial data from those sources. The types of information we may receive include transaction history, payout information, chargebacks, refunds, average order value, customer repeat rate, and subscription or recurring revenue activity. We do not collect bank login credentials or any sensitive information that would allow the movement, withdrawal, or modification of funds.
We also collect basic technical data automatically—such as IP address, device information, browser details, and pages you visit—to help maintain security and improve the performance of our Services.
How We Use Your Information
We primarily use the information we collect to calculate your Merrisk Risk Score, which is based on aggregated financial performance patterns such as transaction consistency, longevity of activity, chargeback behavior, and customer retention indicators.
Your information also helps us create and maintain your business profile, display your verification status, and power your trust badge—only if you choose to make these elements public. In addition, we use collected data to operate the platform, detect fraud, improve system performance, offer customer support, and build new features.
Key uses include:
- Generating your Trust Score
- Displaying your public profile (optional)
- Providing customer support
- Improving and securing the platform
How We Share Information
We only share information in limited situations. If you choose to make your Trust Score, badge, or verification status public, this information will appear on your Merrisk profile.
We may share information with trusted third-party providers who help operate our Services, such as hosting companies, analytics platforms, and security partners. These providers are only permitted to use your information to perform services on our behalf.
We may also share information if required by law, to comply with legal obligations, or to protect our users and platform.
Data Security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information. All data is encrypted during transmission, and sensitive information is encrypted at rest. OAuth connections through Stripe, PayPal, Shopify, and other processors use secure, read-only permissions that prevent any form of financial access or fund movement.
We regularly monitor our systems to safeguard against unauthorized access and maintain strict internal controls to protect sensitive information.
Your Choices and Controls
You have full control over what Merrisk displays publicly. You can choose to show or hide your Trust Score, verification status, business information, or financial indicators at any time.
You may also disconnect connected platforms at any time. Once disconnected, Merrisk immediately loses access to new financial data, and your score may stop updating. You may also request deletion of your account, profile, and any uploaded documents.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep users logged in, measure usage, track badge impressions, and improve site performance. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function properly without them. For more details, see our Cookies Policy.
International Data Transfers
Merrisk is operated from the United States. By using our Services, you consent to the processing and storage of your information in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your region.
Children's Privacy
Our Services are intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
